Analysis This listing is relative to other titles on BN.com. While the sales could be holding steady or increasing, there might be other titles in other categories selling even better. (There are many juvenile and young adult titles in the Top 100, from Harry Potter and Twilight to many popular picture books.) Wimpy Kid, a hybrid book (part comics, part chapter book) continues to sell amazingly well.
Naruto is strong, with Bleach, Fruit Baskets, and Warriors manga selling well. No new superhero titles enter the Top 1000 list this week, and it should be noted that there are few "must-have" collections this season, aside from, perhaps, the final volume of the Absolute Sandman series. (The Complete Calvin and Hobbes collection enters its fourth holiday season.)
Hanukkah begins on the 21st of December, so there might be a greater sales increase as Christmas approaches.
Methodology From the home page of BarnesAndNoble.com, I search by the phrase "graphic novels". Once that search loads, I select the "bestsellers" link located beneath "Browse Graphic Novels". I then scan the first fifty titles as BN.com does not list the titles by rank. If I find any titles posted at #30-50, I then meticulously scan the next fifty titles. (There is also a "Current Bestsellers " panel on the right-hand side of the Graphic Novels homepage. That listing does not correlate to the Sales Rank listed for each title, so I do not make note of it, as I do not know their methodology.)
